At the W2i Digital Cities Convention, eight broadband-wireless technology experts led Structured Brainstorm Workshops using methodology based on overall objectives for the Convention put forth by the Program Committee: • To identify the most relevant roadblocks to the successful adoption and deployment by local authorities of a broadband-wireless solution to improve city and public-safety operations, increase citizen satisfaction, bridge the digital divide and/or spur economic development; • To explore most likely scenarios to overcome the identified roadblocks; • To provide these findings as a basis for a conference report to be released by W2i adding to a comprehensive knowledge base in the Digital Cities Convention global conference series and serve as a set of recommendations to local leadership at the second World Summit of Mayors and Local Authorities in Bilbao, Spain, in November 2005.
The Workshop leaders presented their findings at the final plenary session, chaired by Convention Co-Chair Dianah Neff, on Wednesday, May 4.
