07/05/2007 1.Orange County (CA) Issues Broadband Analyst RFP The County of Orange is considering the implementation of a metropolitan regional broadband wireless (WiFi/WiMAX) network that will cover the territory of all of the participating entities within the County. Proposals are sought from firms with demonstrated experience in assessing the cost/benefit of and determining the most appropriate course of action for the implementation and operation of a metropolitan class wireless network. Governance and oversight of the network owner and network service providers would be provided by the County of Orange possibly via the establishment of a joint Orange County task force with representatives from city and county government, as well as local businesses and educational institutions.
