2.South Carolina Grants to Three Counties for Wireless Study Pickens, Anderson, and Oconee Counties have received a $60,000 grant from the state Department of Commerce to study the development of Wi-Fi in the area. The Wi-Fi grant will fund a study to determine what type of infrastructure would be needed for wireless Internet, where it would need to be located and the cost of establishing a wireless connection throughout the three counties. • More

4.McAllen (TX) Issues Request for Pre-Qualifications for Wi-Fi Equipment McAllen TX has issued a Request for Pre-Qualifications for WiFi equipment in preparation for the procurement of WiFi equipment for hot spots to be implemented over the next two years. Interested vendors will provide free equipment for a 2 week test on a 1 square mile test area and 100 concurrent users. To pre-qualify, vendors must respond by Febraury 29, 2008.
