4.Minneapolis Port Security Seeks Digital IP Camera Solution
The purpose of the RFP is to select a Proposer to furnish, install and connect security cameras/surveillance systems for the City of Minneapolis Port Security program. Police officers and other City representatives will use the camera system to view activity at the port and surrounding areas of the port. The City of Minneapolis will require the ability to access the video from multiple locations, such as a monitoring station at the Second Precinct, desktop workstations, squad cars, Mayor?s workstation or any other location defined. The City will require the capability of extending to the future site of the Emergency Operation Center to be located in the City of Fridley, MN.

5.Birmingham-Jefferson (AL) Civic Center RFP for Wi-Fi
The Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Authority will receive sealed proposals for a Wi-Fi network system. Proposals are due March 25, 2008.

6.Fort Collins (CO) Wi-Fi Pilot Funded
Fort Collins has funded the construction and implementation of a wireless communications infrastructure using Wi-Fi radios mounted on streetlights in a trial area in Fort Collins roughly bounded by LaPorte Avenue, Shields Street, College Avenue and Prospect Road. This system will allow utilities and other departments to explore the business models and any cost savings opportunities that will offer an acceptable return on investment for the infrastructure.

7.Bryan (TX) Independent School District Fiber Network Expansion
The school district is soliciting competitive sealed proposals from vendors to expand the district's fiber optic network to connect Rudder High School and Davila Middle School. Scope of work include the design, provision, and testing of a turnkey outside plant (OSP) fiber optic cabling system. A pre-proposal meeting will be held at 1:00 PM on March 18, 2008, at the Travis Education Support Center.

8.Sioux City (IA) City Council Funding Wi-Fi at Dance Pavilion
On February 25, 2008, the Sioux City (IA) city council approved funding for Wi-Fi at the Dance Pavilion. It is unknown if there will be a competitive procurement or if staff will purchase and install the equipment without a RFP.

9.Winnebago County (WI) Exploring Countywide Wi-Fi
On March 19, 2008, county commissioners will continue the discussion from the February 20, 2008 meeting about moving ahead with compiling information on the feasibility of a countywide Wi-Fi network. Department heads and business leaders will be surveyed for their thoughts and ideas on implementation, benefits and potential costs.

10.Eureka (CA) City Council Approves Wi-Fi Study
On March 4, 2008, the Eureka City Council approved a modified recommendation to award a contract for Wireless Network Feasibility Study to CTC Inc. contingent upon Council’s subsequent appropriation of $57,500 of non-general fund money for the project.

11.Monroe (NC) Considering Wireless Agreement
The Monroe City Council on March 4, 2008 heard a presentation from Wildfire Connections for free wireless Internet using an adverting-only business model but did not make a decision. A council subcommittee will discuss the proposal at a date to be determined.
