Annapolis Readies Wireless for Public Safety
Annapolis, Maryland, is taking the first step in a plan to bring wireless broadband to the city. The city recently contracted with Tele-Tector of Maryland, a local integrator focusing on security applications, to deploy an initial pilot for video surveillance.

AT&T is investing $6.5 billion to $7 billion on its own version, U-verse, which involves installing fiber cables in neighborhoods, though not right up to homes, through 2008.
