What if citywide broadband-wireless had been less about reducing the cost of broadband to citizens and principally about communities making an investment in technology to pull value from obvious and unexpected places? In his new W2i Digital Cities workshop, Jim Farstad, president of rClient and Wireless Minneapolis's project leader, says that, in one case, the value came through a reduction in litigation costs — averaging $16,000 a case — for crimes that are now caught on mesh-enabled surveillance cameras.
