The Boston Wireless Task Force has recommended that a nonprofit be created to own and operate a citywide wireless network that is carrier neutral, wholesale-only, and open to all vendors and users. On July 31, 2006, Mayor Thomas Menino stepped forward to back the potentially disruptive plan.
