06/28/2007WiMAX: Hype or Happening?
A recent survey by Motorola found that: - Nearly half of all those responding, 49 percent, would likely use WiMAX to read or respond to e-mail;
- 31 percent would read or view "live," real-time online media;
- 28 percent would enjoy mobile entertainment, such as interactive, on demand, mobile TV; and,
- Another 28 percent said they would use WiMAX to download and listen to music.

Again, in an article on WiMAX in Business 2.0, Michal Lev-Ram advises us to "fasten our seat belts," because "the Internet service model of telecoms, cable companies, and cellular operators is about to be disrupted." Hmm, haven't we heard that before? Here's the original article. So what's the dirt on WiMAX? Revolution, or evolution? Soloist, or member of the chorus? Tell us what you think....

This is why applications will always rule the customer space, and why the debate has to move beyond the providers of networks and include providers of applications. I is only when we explore deeply the requirements for such customer-desired applications that we can begin to separate the wheat from the chaff.... 12:33 AM, 06/29/2007
