Phoenix Detective Chris Jensen participated in W2i's February 27th webinar “Public Safety and Mesh-Enabled Video Surveillance," sponsored by Firetide. Det. Jensen traces the evolution of mesh-enabled video surveillance in the Phoenix Police Department, which began with a call in 2006 from city officials to use cameras to catch a serial rapist and a serial killer. The point of surveillance, he cautions, is not necessarily to catch criminals on video but to free up human resources that can prove essential to the success of a broad-ranging investigation. More

Houston Wi-Fi RFI Responses Due March 20, 2008 The City of Houston (COH) has implemented substantial municipal wireless broadband network infrastructure to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of key City operations. The City intends to expand this municipal network to further advance City operations, public safety, bridge the digital divide, and promote economic opportunities.
